Tastings is in as the caterer.

Joan Beers is in for the florist (Joan owns and runs the Arabian Horse Inn). She sent a killer proposal today with every single flower we had talked about on Monday at our meeting.

I've decided on a dress for the bridesmaids, with Maggie's help. Of course, the dress in in a style and color that David's has made for 10 years but has recently decided to discontinue. Of COURSE. So it's now a rush to get Leigha and Liz to David's, so that they can get their sizes in their local store. Sorry, ladies!

Things we're waiting for

-- Color swatches for bridesmaids' dresses from Maggie Flood (we're not locked in yet, I just wanted to get this started so we can decide where to get the bridesmaids' dresses)

When we get the caterer proposals and decide on which one to go with, I'll know if we need a florist or not (C&C has their own, which I'd be happy to work with). If we go with Tastings, I'm really thinking Joan at the Inn would be a great florist, but I'd want to see her pictures again -- she has a few good albums.

And when we get the bridesmaids' dresses settled, I can take the color we decide on and work on things like the placecard holders (I'm making the frames for them and then those frames will be favors, too), napkin weights (we're incorporating our backyard into this -- for those of you who've seen our backyard...), invitations (which we'll be making).

Currier & Chives

Yesterday afternoon, Paul and I had a good time meeting with Anne Wilkes of Currier & Chives. It's part of a corporation (a holdings company), pure and simple, but Anne was great. We had some chicken, some teriyaki steak on skewers, some mustard salmon, pear and gruyere tartlets, and some other goodies. We also tasted some cheesecakes. All in all, it was a good experience. She's putting together a proposal for us, as is Sue at Tastings. We'll compare the two caterers and see where we end up. We're leaning a certain way right now, but we'll see what we get as far as proposals.

We think the Tastings presentation was more creative (they had a few photo albums that she showed us), but Currier and Chives had very scrumptuous food. We think both Sue and Anne would really be wonderful. It's almost like we can't go wrong at this point.
