...it's time to get back to the wedding planning! Next job -- send out Save the Date cards, since the wedding's on a holiday weekend.
March 3rd (next Saturday), I see a man about a cake (Ed himself!) and go with Maggie to browse David's Bridal for wedding gowns and bridal party dresses.
Also, Steve Eis of Coolwater Studios is our photographer. We're looking for a videographer. We were going to skip this part, but Brides magazine made a good point -- you can't relive old Aunt Bertha's laugh with a snapshot 15 years from now when she's gone. I was thinking of handing our digital video camera to my brothers, but they probably want to just have fun at the party, so we'll hire someone.

Cake update
A good note from Ed of Joan and Ed's Deli today. He wanted to know when I could come meet with them to talk about cheesecake as our wedding cake. I'm trying to schedule it for 3/3, which is my appointment at David's Bridal (a neighbor of Joan and Ed's in Natick). Anyway, Ed started his email off with a hearty congratulations, which is always nice... a sweet guy -- I know it already! :-)
We'll be quiet for a week or so, as we're off on vacation with P's kids. The house will be bustling place when we're gone -- we're getting our pitched pine floors refinished. Hopefully we won't come home to a dusty mess!

Let them eat cake!
Which Marie Antoinette never said, BTW...
So I think I've thought of a creative (and more yummy) solution to the "Dana and Paul don't like cake, but doesn't a wedding need wedding cake?" problem. While we don't eat cake, we do like cheescake... and cheesecake stacks. And we know that Joan and Ed's (or Cheesecake Factory) make awesome cheesecake. So here's what I'm thinking -- stack a few cheesecakes of differing flavors on top of each other and we'll save the top layer for our anniv, per tradition. No icing needed (swirls are decoration in and of themselves), but maybe we'll decorate it with some summery dragonflies.
